FAQs for the Manage Alternate Fiscal Year Mapping Screen

Needs short description.

Can you give an example of an alternate fiscal year mapping?

An example of an alternate fiscal year mapping is shown in the table below.

Alternate Period Alternate Subperiod Alternate Subperiod End Date Actual FY Start Actual Period Start Actual Subperiod Start Actual FY End Actual Period End Actual Subperiod End Actual Subperiod End Date
1 1 01/31/2014 2013 7 1 2013 7 4 01/26/2014
2 1 02/28/2014 2013 8 1 2013 8 4 01/23/2014
3 1 03/31/2014 2013 9 1 2013 9 5 03/30/2014
4 1 04/30/2014 2013 10 1 2013 10 4 04/27/2014
5 1 05/31/2014 2013 11 1 2013 11 4 05/25/2014
6 1 06/30/2014 2013 12 1 2013 12 5 06/29/2014
7 1 07/31/2014 2014 1 1 2014 1 4 07/27/2014
8 1 08/31/2014 2014 2 1 2014 2 4 08/24/2014
9 1 09/30/2014 2014 3 1 2014 3 5 09/28/2014
10 1 10/31/2014 2014 4 1 2014 4 4 10/26/2014
11 1 11/30/2014 2014 5 1 2014 5 4 11/23/2014
12 1 12/31/2014 2014 6 1 2014 6 5 12/02/2014

How do I include adjustment periods in the alternate fiscal year mapping?

Select the Include Adjustment Periods check box and include the adjustment periods in the sequence. They should not be skipped.

For example, there are two adjustment periods which are 13 and 14 for fiscal year 2013. The sequence will look like the one below.

Alternate Period Alternate Subperiod Alternate Subperiod End Date Actual FY Start Actual Period Start Actual Subperiod Start Actual FY End Actual Period End Actual Subperiod End
6 1 06/30/2014 2013 12 1 2013 14 1
7 1 07/31/2014 2014 1 1 2014 1 4

If you clear the Include Adjustment Periods check box and use the above example, Costpoint will consider it invalid since an adjustment period, through entry 14, has been indicated in the Actual Period End column.

There are adjustment periods, but I do not want to consider them in the alternate fiscal year mapping. Is there a way to do that?

Yes, that is possible. Let us use the same example where adjustment periods 13 and 14 exist for fiscal year 2013.

Clear the Include Adjustment Periods check box. Do not include the adjustment periods 13 and 14 as shown in the sequence below.

Alternate Period Alternate Subperiod Alternate Subperiod End Date Actual FY Start Actual Period Start Actual Subperiod Start Actual FY End Actual Period End Actual Subperiod End
6 1 06/30/2014 2013 12 1 2013 12 5
7 1 07/31/2014 2014 1 1 2014 1 4
