Set Up Leads/Contacts User-Defined Labels

Use the Manage Leads and Contacts User-Defined Labels screen to customize labels for the user-defined fields for lead/contract records in Manage Leads and Contacts.

User-defined labels are optional, but if there is additional information that you want to capture about a lead/contact, you can set up labels on this screen. You can then use these labels on the User-Defined Info subtask of Manage Leads and Contacts.

To set up lead/contact user-defined labels:

  1. Click CRM & Contracts > Contract Management Controls > Resources Controls > Manage Leads and Contacts User-Defined Labels.
  2. Complete the following fields:
    Field Description
    Sequence Number

    Enter the sequence in which you want the labels to display on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Leads and Contacts screen.

    Data Type

    Select from the following options:

    • Date: Select this setting to restrict entries to dates.
    • Number: Select this setting to restrict entries to numbers.
    • Text: Select this setting to allow entry of any alphanumeric text. If you select the Validated Text check box for this row, this is the only data type available.
    Label

    Enter a user-defined label.

    Help Description

    Enter a short description for the label.

    Costpoint Validation Field Select a column of an existing data table. The items in this column of the table window are used as a Lookup source on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Leads and Contacts screen. If you make an entry in this field for a row, you cannot select the Validated Text check box for that row.
    Validated Text

    Select this check box if entries made for this label will be restricted to specific text values. Use the Validated Text subtask to specify the valid entries for the label.

    Required Select this check box if you want this user-defined label to be a required field on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Leads and Contacts screen.
  3. On the Validated Text subtask, click .
  4. Complete the following fields.
    Field Description
    Text Enter a valid value for the user-defined label.
    Description Enter an optional description of up to 30 characters for each of the valid text values.
