Percentage Base Subtask

Use this subtask to enter the information that serves as the basis for the allocation when the Allocation Method on the main screen is Percentage.

The project/account/organization combinations entered here receive the allocation in accordance with the amount entered in the % To Apply column. You can also enter a ceiling in this subtask to limit the amount for each allocation line. To ensure that the project is completely allocated per your setup, you must designate a line to receive any residual caused by limits or rounding. The Percentage method allows for the allocation of costs to non-project accounts and project accounts. As with the other allocation methods, you can enter more than one line in the table window.

Field Description
Line

This non-editable field displays the line numbers automatically generated by Costpoint.

Project

Enter, or click to select, a valid project. Under the Percentage Allocation Method, you can designate non-project accounts in the base. This field is not required.

Debit Account

Enter, or click to select, a valid account that receives the allocation amount during the creation of the journal entry. Since this account is the allocation account, it must be a Detail account and must be Active as specified on the Manage Accounts screen. Also, if you have entered a project for this line, the account must be Project Required (Manage Accounts screen) and must reside in the project's Account Group (Manage Project Account Groups screen) as well as any transaction validation screens that have been specified for the project. Do not use this account for any transaction entry other than the multi-job allocation. This is a required field.

Debit Organization

Enter, or click to select, a valid organization. This is a required field.

%  To Apply

Enter a percent to be applied to the project/account/organization line. You can enter any combination of percentages as long as the lines, when totaled, are less than or equal to 100.00 percent. If the lines total less than 100.00 percent, the remainder goes to the project/account/organization row that has the check box selected in the Apply Residual column. The lines cannot total more than 100.00 percent.

The % To Apply Remaining field on the main screen keeps a running balance of the percent that remains to be applied. You can enter percentages two decimal places to the right (for example, 78.54 percent). The percentages entered for each row must be greater than zero.

U.S. Dollar Limit

Enter the limit that applies to this line. This is a required field and must be filled with either zero or a positive number. If no limit applies, enter zero.

Apply Residual

If you entered an amount greater than zero in the U.S. Dollar Limit field, the check box in the Apply Residual field must be cleared. This indicates that any rounding or over-limit amounts cannot be applied to this line.

For each percentage base setup, one line must have this check box selected. This ensures that any over-limit or rounding amounts are applied to a line. This is a required field.
