Contents of the Enter Scrap Adjustments Screen
Use the fields and options to configure the Enter Scrap Adjustments screen.
Identification
Field | Description |

Warehouse |
Enter, or click to select, the ID of the warehouse from which the material will be taken. |
Scrap Adjustment ID |
If you select Scrap Adjustments and the Auto-Assign check box in the Transaction IDs subtask of the Manage Warehouses screen, leave the field blank and Costpoint assigns the next scrap ID. If Auto-Assign check box is selected and you manually assign a scrap ID in this field, the Last Inv Trans ID field in the Transaction IDs subtask of the Manage Warehouses screen will not be updated. If you use Auto-Assign, you can manually enter a scrap ID. The value in this field cannot begin with a space. |
Transaction Date |
This field displays the system date as the default Transaction Date, but you can enter, or click to select, another date. |
Material Handler |
Enter, or click to select, the material handler who is performing this transaction. A valid employee ID is required. |
Default Inv Abbrev |
Enter, or click to select, the default inventory abbreviation from which the material will be taken. You can override this at the line level. |
Notes |
Enter free-form text to be associated with this adjustment. |
Approval
Field | Description |

Approver |
If you have entered a dollar approval amount in the Approval Amount Threshold field on the Configure Inventory Settings screen and the Total Scrap Amount is equal to or greater than the dollar approval amount, you must enter, or click to select, the approver for this transaction. A valid employee ID is required. |
Password |
If you have entered a dollar approval amount in the Approval Amount Threshold field on the Configure Inventory Settings screen, and the Total Scrap Amount field on this screen is equal to or greater than the approval amount, Costpoint will ask you to enter the approval password (that was assigned in the Local Approval Password field on the Configure Inventory Settings screen) to perform this transaction. You do not need to make an entry in this field to save the transaction, but the transaction will be flagged as unapproved when the Inventory Journal is posted. |
Scrap
Use the fields in this group box to select an inventory abbreviation, project/account/organization combination, or an account/organization to charge for this scrap adjustment.

Project |
If an inventory abbreviation is not displayed, enter, or click to select, the project to be charged for this adjustment. The project must be active. This field is optional. |
Proj Abbrev |
This field displays the project abbreviation ID to be charged for this adjustment. |
Organization |
Enter, or click to select, the organization to be charged for this adjustment. The organization must be active and a valid account/organization combination. For GFM parts, Costpoint uses the project’s owning organization for organization security validation, if organization security is enabled. |
Org Abbrev |
Enter, or click to select, the organization abbreviation ID to be charged for this adjustment. |
Account |
If an inventory abbreviation is not displayed, enter, or click to select, the account to be charged for this adjustment. The account must be active. If you entered a project in the Project field, the account must be valid for this project. If you did not enter a project, the account must be a non-project account and should be an expense, non-inventory, or asset account. |
Inv Abbrev |
Enter, or click to select, the inventory abbreviation ID to be charged for this adjustment. This inventory abbreviation must be an account type of E (Expense) or G (Government-furnished material). The project assigned to this inventory abbreviation is displayed. |
Total Scrap Amount |
The total amount of this scrap adjustment is displayed here. Costpoint calculates the total by multiplying the scrap quantity by the unit cost or the sum of the extended cost for all of the lines. You cannot modify this calculated field. This field is not displayed if Cost Suppression is in effect (the Suppress Cost check box of the Manage Users screen in Costpoint Administration). |
Reverse Transaction |
Click this button to reverse the selected transaction. The positive Scrap Quantity and associated Total Scrap Amount will be reversed. Reversing quantities cannot exceed the original transaction quantity. You can apply a reversal of transaction to both positive and/or negative adjustment quantities, and the effect of reversing a positive adjustment is similar to that of a negative adjustment. The original transaction costs will be used for the reversal. |

This field displays the inventory unit of measure for the part selected. |
From Inv Abbrev |
The default inventory abbreviation entered in the header is displayed but can be modified. You can click to select a new inventory abbreviation. |
Scrap Quantity |
Enter the scrap quantity to be adjusted. A positive scrap quantity adds to the inventory while a negative scrap quantity deducts from the inventory. |
From Location |
Enter, or click to select, the location ID from where the material is being adjusted. |
Scrap Reason |
Enter, or click to select, a reason code for this adjustment. The reason code must already be established on the Manage Scrap Reasons screen. |
Unit Cost |
The unit cost for this part is displayed which is the summation of the direct costs. If a negative issue quantity has been entered, you can modify direct costs and the unit cost is recomputed. If Cost Suppression is in effect (that is, the Cost check box is selected on the Manage Users screen), the unit cost does not display. |
Extended Cost |
The total of the scrap quantity multiplied by the unit cost is displayed. If Cost Suppression is in effect, the extended cost does not display. |

This field displays the direct material unit cost. You can click to either select the cost you want to use base from the following costs:

Direct Labor Cost |
This field displays the direct labor unit cost. You can click to select the cost you want to use. |
Direct Subcontract Cost |
This field displays the direct subcontract unit cost. You can click to select the cost you want to use. |
Direct Misc 1 Cost |
This field displays the direct miscellaneous 1 unit cost. You can click to select the cost you want to use. |
Direct Misc 2 Cost |
This field displays the direct miscellaneous 2 unit cost. You can click to select the cost you want to use. Note: The following fields are for viewing only and cannot be modified.
